Movies

You may or may not know that I currently run my own book review website (www.BookshelfReview.com). I’m thrilled to announce that some of my reviews will now also be featured regularly at The Christian Manifesto. This is a great site that focuses on Christian entertainment and news in our culture. Check it out!

Time for some pop-culture nostalgia. When I was a kid, I loved the cartoon “Transformers”. I watched it all the time and I collected all the action figures. They’re actually making a new Transformers movie and I’m pumped about that. In the show, the Transformers were these intelligent robots that could reconfigure themselves into common forms such as cars, aircrafts, or even animals. My favorite was Optimus Prime. He was just an average looking semi-truck, until he transformed into one awesome kick-some-tail robot. The Transformers taglines were “Robots in Disguise”, and my favorite, “More Than Meets The Eye.”

Did you know as Christians we too can be transformed? OK, OK..stop rolling your eyes. I’m serious. The Bible says that we can be transformed by the renewing of our minds. We can’t become super-intelligent robots, but we can become so much more than we are. In order to transform, we have to stop living according to the standards of this world. We have to stop filling our minds with junk, and begin concentrating on things that encourage us in our faith. Things that draw us closer to Him. When we change the way we think and change our perspective, our lives then begin to change. When we renew our minds, it is only then that we truly begin to understand God’s will and plan for our lives.

Romans 12:2
““Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is; his good, pleasing and perfect will.” NIV
